The Plastic Store Opening at MASS MoCA

MASS MoCA, in association with Williamstown Theatre Festival, is thrilled to announce The Plastic Bag Store, as part of its 25th Anniversary Season. Created by artist Robin Frohardt, this immersive, multimedia experience melds installation art, theater, film and a whole lot of humor to spark critical reflection on our culture of consumption and convenience.

Frohardt has meticulously hand-sculpted thousands of items that have been ingeniously up-cycled. 2-liter bottles become “Plastic Dew,” orange tarp becomes carrots, plastic caps are “capperonnis” on frozen pizza, and “free-range” plastic bags transform into a dozen eggs.

Step inside The Plastic Bag Store — a vibrant, tongue-in-cheek "supermarket" — and explore a darkly funny and often tender story about the enduring effects of single-use plastics.
